Sompal Kami is Nepal’s fastest bowler ever. He clocked 140 km/h during the match against Afghanistan in the 2014 ICC World Twenty20.
Kami is given the nickname: The Gulmi Express.
In 2014 Kami, batting tenth, scored 40 runs (31 balls) in Nepal’s first innings total of 72 all out. A world record in all T20 matches for the highest score made by a number 10 batsman.
His First Class debut was for Saracens Sports Club in the 2015-16 Premier League Tournament in Sri Lanka.
Kami played in Nepal’s first ever ODI match against Netherlands in August 2018. In the same series, he became the second Nepali player to score a half-century (61) in ODIs for Nepal.
In January 2019, he became the first bowler for Nepal to take a five-wicket haul in an ODI match. A series winning 5-33 against the UAE.
Kami represented Winnipeg Hawks, a franchise team, Global T20 Canada, becoming the second Nepali ever to play in an overseas franchise league.
Kami scored Nepal’s first first-class half century in 14 years when the country hosted Marylebone Cricket Club in Kathmandu.
In 2021, he was picked by Maratha Arabians for the 4th season of Abu Dhabi T10 league.

Kami was awarded ‘Sukriti Padak’ Civillian Award by Government of Nepal for his contribution in 2014 World T20
